View storage group details
Storage groups are a collection of devices that are stored on the array, and an application, a server, or a collection of servers use them.
Prerequisites
See Roles and associated permissions to determine the user roles that can perform this task.
About this task
This procedure explains how to view configuration details for storage groups on storage systems. In eNAS operating environments, there are multiple ways to view the same information. Depending on the method you use, some of the properties and controls may not apply. Depending on the storage group type, some of the properties may be listed in a different order and some of the properties and controls may not apply.
Steps
- Select the storage system.
- Select Storage > Storage Groups to open the Storage Groups list view.
-
Select the storage group and click
.
The following properties display:
- SRP—Name of SRP that the storage group belongs to, if any.
- Compliance—Indication of how well the storage group is complying with its service level, if applicable.
- Service Level—Service level that is associated with the storage group - when there is no service level that is associated with the group, this field displays N/A.
- Snapshot Policy Compliance—Indication of snapshot policy compliance
- Snapshot Policies—Number of snapshot policies
- Snapshots—Number of snapshots associated with the storage group
- Workload Type—Workload type
- Emulation—Emulation type
- Volumes—Number of volumes in the storage group
- Capacity (GB)—Total capacity of the storage group in GB
- Unreducible (GB)—Amount that a storage group is unreducible (only available on storage systems running PowerMaxOS 5978 Q1 2021 SR).
- Masking Views—Number of masking views associated with the storage group
- Clones—Number of clones
- SRDF—Indication if SRDF
- Child Storage Groups—Number of child storage groups
- Is Child—Indicates whether the storage group is or is not a child storage group.
- Parent Storage Group(s)—Number of storage groups of which this storage group is a child. This field only displays for child storage groups.
- Tags—List of tags associated with the storage group (does not apply to storage systems running HYPERMAX OS 5977).
- MetroDR Environments—Indication if there are MetroDR environments.
- RecoverPoint—Indicates RecoverPoint usage
- Array ID—Identity of the storage system
- VP Saved—The percentage of space saved on the storage group
- Data Reduction—The data reduction status
- Data Reduction Ratio—The data reduction ratio
- Last Updated—Timestamp of the most recent changes to the storage group
- Host I/O Limit —Whether the host I/O limit feature is enabled. For more information, see Set host I/O limits
- Host I/O Limit (MB/Sec)—Maximum bandwidth (in MB per second) - valid values range from 1 MB/sec to 100,000 MB/sec.
- Host I/O Limit (IO/Sec)—Maximum IOPS (in I/Os per second) - valid values range from 100 IO/Sec to 100,000 IO/sec.
- Dynamic Distribution—When enabled, the configured host I/O limits are dynamically distributed across the configured ports, allowing the limits on each individual port to adjust to fluctuating demand.
Links are also provided to views for objects that are contained in and associated with the storage group. Each link is followed by a number, indicating the number of objects in the corresponding view. For example, clicking the number next to Volumes opens a view listing the volumes that are contained in the storage group.
-
Click
VIEW ALL DETAILS.
A view with up to five tabs, Details, Volumes, Data Protection, Performance, and Compliance (if the storage group is compliant) is displayed. Clicking the Volumes tab displays a view of the volumes in the storage group (see View volumes). Clicking the Details displays a view with two panels, a Properties panel and a Capacity panel. Clicking the Data Protection tabs results in the display of up to three additional tabs each of which can be clicked to display configuration details: SRDF, Snapshots, and Snapshot Policies. Clicking the Compliance tab results in the display of compliance details. Clicking the Performance tab results in the display of performance details.
The Properties panel displays the following:
- SRP—Name of the SRP
- Compliance—Indication of how well the storage group is complying with its service level, if applicable .
- Service Level—Service level that is associated with the storage group - when there is no service level that is associated with the group, this field displays N/A.
- Workload Type—Type of the workload associated with the storage group
- Tags—List of tags associated with the storage group - does not apply to storage systems running HYPERMAX OS 5977).
- Emulation—Emulation type
- Masking Views—Number of masking views associated with the storage group
- Is Child—Indicates that the storage group is or is not a child storage group.
- Child Storage Groups—Number of child storage groups
- Parent Storage Groups—Number of parent storage groups
- Snapshots—Number of snapshots associated with the storage group
- Clones—Number of clones
- Snapshot Policy Compliance—Indication of snapshot policy compliance
- Snapshot Policies—Number of snapshot policies
- SRDF—SRDF
- RecoverPoint—Indicates RecoverPoint usage.
- Array ID—Storage system identity
- Last Updated—Timestamp of the most recent changes to the storage group
- Host I/O Limit—Indication that the host I/O limit feature is enabled. For more information, see Set host I/O limits.
- Host I/O Limit (MB/Sec)—Maximum bandwidth (in MB per second) - valid values range from 1 MB/sec to 100,000 MB/sec.
- Host I/O Limit (IO/Sec)—Maximum I/O operations per second (IOPS) - valid values range from 100 I/O /sec to 100,000 I/O /sec.
- Dynamic Distribution—Status of dynamic distribution of host
I/O limits - possible values are:
- Always—Enables full dynamic distribution mode - when enabled, the configured host I/O limits is dynamically distributed across the configured ports, allowing the limits on each individual port to adjust to fluctuating demand.
- OnFailure—Enables port failure capability - when enabled, the fraction of configured host I/O limits available to a configured port adjust based on the number of ports that are online.
- Never—Disables this feature (Default).
The Capacity panel displays the following:
- Capacity (GB)—Total capacity of the storage group in GB
- Volumes—Number of volumes in the storage group
- Effective Used Capacity—Effective used capacity
- VP Saved—The percentage of space saved on the storage group
- Unreducible (GB)—Amount that a storage group is unreducible (only available on storage systems running PowerMaxOS 5978 Q1 2021 SR).
- Data Reduction—If data reduction is enabled on this storage group a tick displays. If it is disabled a horizontal dash displays.
- Data Reduction Ratio—Data reduction ratio for the storage group
The following controls are available:Modify— Storage Group operations.
Set Host I/O Limits— Set host I/O limits.
—Unisphere enables you to tag arrays and storage groups (does not apply to storage systems running
HYPERMAX OS 5977). You can add a tag to an object for identification or to provide other information. An association between objects can be inferred by adding the same tag to each object. You can search by tag to retrieve related objects. Tags can be added to and removed from objects. When a tag is no longer associated with an object, it no longer exists.
Supported objects are arrays and Storage Groups.
The following tagging rules apply:
- The tag has a 64 Character limit of letters, numbers, - and _ .
- There are a maximum of 500 unique tag names per array.
- There are a maximum of eight tags per object.
- Tags can be mixed case and are case-sensitive.
- There are 500 unique tag names per array.
You can click
to view the list of tags. You can also add one or more new tags.
